Why Brazil is different
Check your visa first. Brazil’s consulate says citizens of the United States, Canada and Australia need an e-Visa for visits of up to 90 days, applied for through the official VFS Global portal. GOV.UK says British visitors can stay up to 90 days without one (see entry).
Two big networks appear. Airalo lists Vivo, Nomad lists TIM, and Ubigi lists TIM and Vivo.
Fixed data is good value. 10 GB for 30 days is $19 at Nomad and Ubigi, and Nomad sells 50 GB for $45.
Quick picks
One to four weeks, normal use
A 10 GB / 30-day plan: $19 at Nomad on TIM or Ubigi on TIM and Vivo. Nomad’s 20 GB is $31.
Lots of video and uploads
Nomad’s 50 GB for 30 days at $45, the largest 30-day plan we found here.
No counting
Maya’s global plan: $19.99 a week, $49.99 for 30 days. Among Brazil plans, Airalo is lowest for a week ($25.00) and Ubigi for 30 days ($69).
Two countries
Combining Brazil with the Andes? Our Peru guide compares the same seven providers.
Step 1: Size your plan for Brazil
Maps, ride-hailing, transit apps and messaging use little data. Uploading photos and videos and making video calls use much more. As a rough guide, maps and messaging use hundreds of megabytes a day, while video and video calls can use several gigabytes. These are general estimates, not measurements.
Under a week, maps, messages and transport apps
3–5 GB fixed plan
1–2 weeks, photos, social apps and video
10–20 GB fixed, or unlimited
Remote work, video calls, tethering a laptop
Unlimited, after checking its fair-use and hotspot rules
Step 2: Compare published prices
Unlimited plans by trip length
| Days | Airalo | Nomad | Holafly | Ubigi | Yesim |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3 days | $12.00 (lowest listed) | — | $13.50 | — | $18.00 |
| 5 days | $19.00 | $17 (lowest listed) | $20.90 | — | $30.00 |
| 7 days | $25.00 (lowest listed) | — | $28.50 | $29 | $42.00 |
| 10 days | $33.00 | $31 (lowest listed) | $37.50 | — | $51.00 |
| 15 days | $46.00 (lowest listed) | — | $51.50 | $46 (lowest listed) | $66.00 |
| 30 days | $85.00 | — | $100.50 | $69 (lowest listed) | $94.80 |
Lowest listed price in the row — means no plan of that length was listed. Holafly ($5.90) and Yesim ($6.00) also sell a single day. Holafly lets you share data as a hotspot (a 7-day plan includes 7 GB). Nomad sells Brazil unlimited only for 5 or 10 days. Maya sells one global unlimited plan at the same price for every country: $9.99 for 3 days, $19.99 for 7, $27.99 for 14 and $49.99 for 30 (see Maya). Official pages, checked 5 November 2026.

| 50 GB | — | $4530 days | — | — | — |
Lowest listed price in the row Validity differs, so compare the small print as well as the price. Where a provider sells the same data amount for several lengths, we show the longest. Airalo also lists shorter versions (for example 10 GB for 7 days at $20.00). Ubigi also lists 10 GB for 7 days ($17), 25 GB for 30 days ($45) and an annual plan of 60 GB over 12 months, capped at 5 GB a month ($55). Official pages, checked 5 November 2026.
Step 3: Check the fine print
- Networks. Airalo: Vivo. Nomad: TIM. Ubigi: TIM and Vivo. Holafly, Saily, Yesim and Maya didn’t name one.
- Unlimited isn’t always unlimited. Ubigi says a fair-use policy may apply. Holafly’s Brazil page limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day (a 7-day plan includes 7 GB to share).
- Activation windows. Nomad starts a plan automatically 60 days after purchase if you haven’t used it. Saily says all plans have a 180-day activation period; after that the plan starts automatically. Ubigi’s plan starts when you arrive.
- Hotspot. Yesim says hotspot depends on the operator, and gives 180 days from purchase to activate.
- Saily unlimited. Saily sells unlimited plans here, but we couldn’t read a price for each length, so check at checkout.
- No local number. These plans are data-only. Saily sells an optional US phone number, and Yesim offers a 20-minute calling add-on.

- $19.99unlimited data
- 30 days
- $49.99unlimited data
What stands out
The lowest price we found for 7 or 30 days of unlimited data. It’s one global plan, so the same eSIM keeps working if Brazil is one stop of several. Maya’s page says "No caps, no throttling."
What to watch
It renews automatically while Travel Mode is on, so turn it off when you get home. The page we read doesn’t name the local networks or spell out a fair-use policy, and we haven’t tested the no-throttling claim.
Will your phone work?
- eSIM-capable and unlocked. Apple lists iPhone XS, XS Max, XR or later. Settings → General → About should say "No SIM restrictions" next to Carrier Lock (full checklist).
- Bought in mainland China? Apple says that in China mainland only the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, iPhone Duo, iPhone 17e and iPhone Air support eSIM. Many older mainland models use two physical SIM cards instead, so check for Add eSIM in your settings before you buy a plan.
- Bought in Hong Kong or Macau? Apple notes that certain iPhone models sold there have two nano-SIM slots. Check for Add eSIM in your settings first.
- Install before you fly. Install the eSIM at home on Wi-Fi and leave the line switched off until you land (install guide).
Install before you fly
Set up the eSIM over home or hotel Wi-Fi before departure, so you have maps and messages from the moment you land in Brazil. Keep your home SIM switched on for bank and app SMS codes, but set the travel line for mobile data.
Before you pack
Check that your phone accepts eSIMs and isn’t carrier-locked in our eSIM compatibility checker. For sockets, WorldStandards lists types C and N sockets, with 127 V or 220 V depending on the area, at 60 Hz for Brazil; see our plug and voltage guide.
Entry: e-Visa and the passport stamp
- e-Visa for US, Canadian and Australian citizens. The Consulate General of Brazil in Los Angeles says citizens of these three countries need the E-Visa / Visitor Visa (VIVIS) for tourism, business or transit stays of up to 90 days. You apply 100% online through the VFS Global portal (brazil.vfsevisa.com), and the consulate says to get it before buying airline tickets.
- British visitors. GOV.UK says you can visit Brazil without a visa for up to 90 days for tourism.
- Passport. GOV.UK says it must be valid for at least 6 months after the date you arrive.
- Entry stamp. GOV.UK says to make sure the border officer stamps your passport; if it isn’t stamped, you may be fined when you leave.
- Cash. GOV.UK says to declare cash or travellers’ cheques worth US$10,000 or more online.
Lookalike visa sites
Apply only through the official VFS Global portal linked from Brazil’s consulate. The consulate says there are no expedited processing options or fees for the e-Visa.
Our take
For most trips, Nomad’s or Ubigi’s 10 GB for $19 are the best value, and Nomad’s 50 GB for $45 suits heavy users. For a week or more of unlimited, Maya’s global plan beats every Brazil plan we checked. If you hold a US, Canadian or Australian passport, sort the e-Visa first.
