First, check which countries "Europe" includes
Airalo's Europe page says its regional package covers 41 countries. Holafly's Europe eSIM lists 33 destinations, and Holafly states it includes the UK and Ireland. Those counts are not the same list, so if your route includes the UK, Switzerland, Turkey, the Balkans or a microstate, open the coverage list on the provider's page and look for every country on your itinerary.

Nomad and Saily also sell Europe regional and single-country plans, often with smaller fixed-data options that cost less than unlimited. We didn't verify their Europe prices in this update, so we're not quoting them.

EU residents: read this
If you live in the EU, your home plan may already include "roam like at home" use across the EU, which could make a travel eSIM unnecessary for an EU-only trip. Ask your carrier what is included and whether fair-use limits apply. Holafly also says its eSIMs don't work in your home country, and for EU residents that means the entire EU region.
Things that matter more than $2
- Refund rules. Holafly's Europe page mentions up to six months to request a refund and lists cancelled trips and incompatible phones as eligible reasons. Read each provider's refund policy before you buy early.
- Hotspot use. Holafly caps sharing at 1 GB per day. If you plan to tether a laptop on trains, a large fixed-data plan with full hotspot support may suit you better.
- Top-ups and renewals. Airalo supports top-ups and optional auto-renewal when 10% of data remains; turn renewal off when you get home.
- Weak spots. Holafly notes coverage can be weaker in mountains and remote areas, using the Alps as an example. That's true of every provider, because they all use local networks.
A simple way to decide
List your route
Write down every country and confirm each is on the plan's coverage list.
Estimate your data
A 2-week trip with Wi-Fi at hotels often fits in 10–20 GB; streaming and tethering push you toward unlimited.
If unlimited, compare exact days
Compare Airalo and Holafly for your number of days. In the table above the gap was between $0.40 and $5.50.
If fixed data, compare regional plans
Check regional fixed plans from Nomad or Saily on their official pages.
Crossing Europe and beyond? If your route also leaves the regional plan's list (say, Europe plus Türkiye or North Africa), one more option is Drimsim, which sells a single SIM or eSIM with pay-as-you-go data across many countries instead of fixed regional bundles. We haven't verified its per-country rates for this guide, so check the rate for each stop on its site before relying on it.

Does a Europe eSIM cover the UK?
It depends on the plan. Holafly states its Europe eSIM includes the UK and Ireland. Always open the provider's coverage list and check every country on your route.
How much is unlimited data for two weeks in Europe?
For 15 days, Airalo listed $49.00 and Holafly $51.50 for their unlimited Europe plans (checked 4 November 2026).
I live in the EU. Do I need a travel eSIM?
Maybe not for an EU-only trip: your home plan may include "roam like at home". Ask your carrier. Note that Holafly says its eSIMs don't work in your home country, which for EU residents means the whole EU.
